COVENTRY City exited the Carabao Cup at the second round stage following a 2-1 defeat at Championship rivals Millwall. A late penalty from Haji Wright gave the Sky Blues hope after Massimo Luongo and Kamarl Grant put the Lions in command at The Den. Sky Blues defender Miguel Angel Brau then made a fine block to deflect Wes Harding’s close range effort over the top. And the Sky Blues almost drew level after the break as Max Crocombe tipped Kaine Kesler-Hayden’s header from Brau’s cross behind for a corner. Wright fired the resulting penalty into the bottom left corner but it proved too little too late.
