COVENTRY City have appointed Matt Grimes as the club’s new captain following the departure of former skipper Ben Sheaf. Grimes inherits the armband from former midfield partner Sheaf who left the Sky Blues to join Wrexham in a reported £6.5million deal on transfer deadline day. The 30-year-old previously captained former club Swansea City for more than five years. Grimes said: “It’s an honour to be named captain of this football club. “It’s a real privilege to be asked by the gaffer and to be trusted at such a huge club, with an amazing fan base, I’m really proud.
