BEN LOMOND — A head-on collision along a busy highway in the San Lorenzo Valley over the weekend resulted in the death of an 80-year-old Felton resident later identified by local authorities. According to a spokesperson for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office, the woman killed in a Saturday morning crash along Highway 9 was Joyce Patricia Elmore. California Highway Patrol’s Santa Cruz unit posted on social media that its officers were called around 8:20 a.m. Saturday to the area south of Brackney Road in Ben Lomond, along the busy highway corridor, after receiving reports of an accident. The Santa Cruz woman, also traveling at an unknown speed, emerged uninjured, according to the CHP post. A loss for the valley,” the local resident commented.
