The site is located within the Green Belt and a small part is brownfield. At a Thurrock Council planning meeting on Tuesday councillors said they feared there was already unused warehouses in the area. Many residents are struggling to sell their homes with property values declining as industrial development increases. Additionally, industrial development will exacerbate existing issues of air pollution. The development of this redundant and partially previously developed grey belt site would be many economic benefits to Thurrock.
