Neighbourhood police officers targeted nuisance vehicles and cruisers in the Lakeside area during special patrols on Sunday night. During their patrols they spotted a Tesla "cruising a little too confidently", and discovered the driver only held a provisional licence. A spokesman for Essex Police said: "When asked why he wasn’t following the rules, the driver said he’d taken the test 'several times' but found it 'too hard'." The driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without third party insurance. "And yes — the Tesla was seized... while it may be able to drive itself, it still needs a qualified human behind the wheel!," the spokesman added.
