September 29, (THEWILL) — The Presidency has said that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, is free to contest the 2027 elections but warned that Nigerians would not forget what it described as his “dismal record in office”. Onanuga described Gana’s claim that Jonathan could defeat President Bola Tinubu as “self-delusion”, arguing that the former president presided over years of economic decline and poor governance that Nigerians decisively rejected in 2015. The PDP broke the economy; President Tinubu is fixing it. Nigerians will not allow those who ran the country aground to return in 2027”, Onanuga declared. The development comes amid rising political manoeuvres ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures rallying for possible challengers to President Tinubu.
