An unknown man is said to have stood in the way of the thieves as they tried to make off. The shop worker, who works at food store Rutherglen, said: "This group is well-known to anybody working in retail in the central belt. They operate as part of a wider group and steal anything of value. Maxine Fraser, managing director, said: "These individuals are part of a wider group who travel extensively across the central belt to commit crime.
