‌The prisoner was targeted in a pre-planned and coordinated assault by a large group of men, some of whom had armed themselves with home-made chivs (small knives) and tins of tuna inside of socks, a court heard. There is no evidence that Miles, Steanson or Hall made the knife, and they did not use it. Hall, however, did manage to throw a pool ball at the victim and was also hit by one.
