The eminent citizens said that at least 30 indigenous people were injured while allegations have surfaced of excessive use of force by law enforcing agencies. The statement reminded that no force is above the rule of law, stressing that the culture of impunity must end immediately. They also called for the formation of an independent commission to investigate allegations of excessive force by law enforcement during the clashes. The victim's father filed a case on September 24 with Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station against three unidentified men.
