Samsung Slashes 2nm Chip Manufacturing Costs to $20,000 per Wafer

Samsung has made a bold move in its battle with TSMC by cutting the price of its 2 nm wafers down to $20,000 each.
That’s about a third cheaper than the $30,000 per wafer TSMC is expected to charge when its own 2 nm production kicks off.
That would not only boost fab utilization but also give Samsung a stronger foothold in the AI and high-performance chip market.
For big customers, saving $10,000 per wafer is significant, but if yields are lower, the overall cost benefit might shrink quickly.
Looking ahead, the competition between Samsung and TSMC at the 2 nm node could shape the next phase of the semiconductor industry.
