The Marshall City Council will conduct its second public hearing Thursday on the proposed 2025-26 budget and property tax rate. The proposed tax rate is 58.15 cents per $100 valuation, which is the same as the voter approval rate and a 0.4% increase of the 2024-25 tax rate of 57.9 cents per $100 of property value. Agnor previously said Marshall’s taxable values are up about $125 million this fiscal year — from $1.434 billion to $1.559 billionShe said the average homestead taxable value for 2024-25 was $104,000. “In 2025, based on numbers provided by (the appraisal district), you’re a little over $112,000, so you’re looking at an 8.2% increase in that average homestead taxable value,” Agnor told the council. “And then the tax on the average homestead, again, this is just the city’s portion of the property tax, based on the average homestead was about $602 last year, and if adopted, it would be $654,” she added.
