The Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) has outlined plans to establish a nationwide College of Work and Health from early next year. The college will be set up as a sister charity to FOM, and will run alongside the faculty. In time, FOM itself may also become part of the college, while still retaining its standalone status as a medical faculty. FOM President Dr Robin Cordell said: “A College of Work and Health will be a vital resource for the growing multidisciplinary workforce supporting the health of Britain’s working-age population. “The aim is to provide a shared academic home for occupational health nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other work and health professionals who, with occupational physicians, provide expert advice to employers on preventing ill health in the workforce, and to support the health of their workers with health conditions and disabilities in their work,” he added.
