Norfolk County will formally observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation today, with a series of closures, service adjustments, and educational opportunities. The County raised the Survivor Flag at the Administration Building in Simcoe yesterday, where it will remain until October 1. Several County services will be impacted by the observance. The Simcoe Recreation Centre and Seniors’ Centre will also close October 1, while the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre and other recreation facilities will temporarily close in October to accommodate the Norfolk County Fair. Norfolk officials say this day provides a vital opportunity for individuals and communities to reflect, learn, and commit to supporting reconciliation efforts across Canada.
