Samantha Easson, of Horsemarket, pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving and a breach of the Children and Young Persons Scotland Act 1937. The offences happened on the A68 road between Earlston and Charlesfield Industrial Estate on July 9. Easson gave a breath/alcohol reading of 104 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22 microgrammes. In addition to the disqualification period, she was ordered to carry out 75 hours unpaid work as part of a community payback order. Easson was certified suitable to take part in the Drink-drivers Rehabilitation Scheme which, if completed successfully at her own expense, would result in a 25 per cent reduction in the length of the 15-month ban.
