That was the conclusion after three representatives from the Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to Riverside Care Centre in Bridge Street early in September. It was found that staff demonstrated genuine warmth and caring attitudes when supporting people. However, the service needs to enhance the manager’s oversight of medication practices to ensure robust quality assurance. The report states: “To improve the environment of the home the provider should continue to develop a refurbishment plan. This should include but not be restricted to timely repairs and replacement of items.”The service was rated ‘adequate’ for supporting people’s well-being and for its leadership and ‘good’ for its staff team and its setting.
