Bin strike averted after workers accept new pay offer
['Gemma Parry']
Slough Observer | News
Refuse and recycling workers in Windsor and Maidenhead, employed by SERCO, had voted for industrial action.
However, the strike was averted after Serco put forward an improved pay offer.
David McMullen, GMB organiser, said: "We are pleased SERCO have seen sense and Windsor and Maidenhead members did not have to begin a protracted dispute as seen across other councils recently.
"Members standing strong and being prepared to fight for an improved offer has resulted in a significant improvement in their pay without a single day's industrial action.
GMB members were balloted over two days and accepted the improved offer.
