News news
The Bank of England (BoE) has reviewed the base rate with recent inflation figures impacting its decision on whether to make another cut.
Two members voted to reduce the bank rate by 0.25 percentage points, to 3.75%.
The Bank’s governor, Andrew Bailey, said: “We held interest rates at 4% today.
Philip Nothard, insight director at Cox Automotive, said: “Although disappointing, as expected, the Bank of England has held the base rate at 4%, reflecting the reality that recent inflation figures leave little room for manoeuvre.
Steve Clayton, head of equity funds at Hargreaves Lansdown, said that the Bank of England's decision to hold interest rates steady at 4% comes as “no surprise”.
