BMW will offer a hydrogen powertrain on the next-generation X5, with the car's launch earmarked for 2028. A UK launch for the iX5 Hydrogen has not been confirmed. Following successful testing of the pilot fleet worldwide, the new BMW iX5 Hydrogen will enter the market as the brand’s first-ever series-produced hydrogen-powered model. The BMW iX5 Hydrogen was first unveiled as a concept at the IAA show in 2019. Together these hold almost six kilogrammes of hydrogen, enough to give the BMW iX5 Hydrogen a range of 504 km (313 miles) in the WLTP cycle, while filling up tanks only three to four minutes.
