Gambia Secures Additional $3.3m Grant From AfDB To Finance Rice Production Programme(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – African Development Bank Group has approved a grant of $3.5 million from the African Development Fund’s Transition Support Facility as additional financing for a rice value chain transformation project in Gambia. Thus, it targets the production, processing, and marketing of rice in the Gambia, as well as reducing imports. The additional financing will focus on providing subsidized inputs as well as policy reforms destined to scale up food production. On May 20, the Bank approved an African Emergency Food Production Facility to bring relief to some 20 million smallholder farmers across the continent. This includes supplying farmers with high-quality wheat, rice, maize and soya seeds and fertilizer, along with an array of technical support services.
