Writing on X, Prime Minister Robert Abela and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ian Borg said Malta “welcomed” Trump’s efforts towards peace in Gaza.
Borg said: “We urge all parties to engage constructively toward a just peace based on the two-state solution and international law.
Malta stands ready to support this path to stability.”Abela said Malta called on "all parties to commit to a just two-state solution that upholds the rights & aspirations of both peoples."
Trump’s plan has won cautious backing from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has maintained he is ready to "finish the job" should Hamas reject the plan, however.
The plan Malta is supporting also includes the deployment of a “temporary international stabilisation force” and creation of a transitional authority headed by Trump himself and featuring other foreign leaders.
