An officer at Five Points Correctional Facility was injured earlier this month after a violent struggle with an inmate who refused to return to his cell. The incident happened on the morning of September 13 in the Romulus-based maximum security prison. Two officers were monitoring inmates during recreation when one inmate became aggressive and refused multiple orders to return to his cell, according to facility officials. Officers attempted to physically return him to his cell, but he resisted — swinging, kicking, and continuing to fight as backup arrived. It took several officers to finally subdue him, cuff his arms, and escort him to a holding cell.
