Seventeen fire police trainees from across the region put their training to the test this weekend—managing crowds and traffic during the busy Naples Grape Festival. The real-world exercise capped off a three-week training course led by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Classes were held twice a week at the Ontario County Safety Training Facility and included both first-time participants and veterans with more than 20 years of experience. Departments represented in this year’s class included Victor, Richmond, Hall, Manchester, Branchport, West Lake Road, Crystal Beach, White Springs, Hopewell, Ithaca, Livonia, and Farmington. The fire police training program is held annually.
