South Africa Demolishes Nigerian Developer’s High-Rise Complexes(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Authorities in the City of Tshwane have destroyed two high-rise complexes owned by Nigerian property developer George Asaba after lots of court rulings declared that the structures are unlawful. The demolitions were after a March ruling by the Gauteng High Court, which directed that the buildings on Luttig Street, Pretoria West, be demolished. Asaba’s appeal was rejected in April, with the court upholding the right of the municipality to proceed. Also, Asaba was held in contempt of court after he ignored a July 16, 2024, order halting construction. The City disclosed that demolitions would continue across Tshwane because of its plan against illegal structures.
