Obi Slams NIS Over Hike In Nigerian Passport Fee(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections has stated that the federal government is increasing the burden on ordinary Nigerians. The former Anambra governor stated this in his social media accounts as he reacted to the fresh hike in international passport fees. The African Examiner recalls that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has increased the cost of a 32-page passport booklet to N100,000, and the 64-page booklet is now N200,000. Reacting, Obi stated that the new charges are ridiculous when juxtaposed with the country’s present economic realities. “The International Passport fees in Nigeria have now skyrocketed to ₦100,000 for a 32-page booklet and ₦200,000 for 64 pages.
