BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office issued more than 120 citations and made five arrests for driving under the influence during a Labor Day weekend traffic enforcement operation. Deputies issued 123 traffic citations and 50 warnings. Speeding topped the list with 55 citations, followed by 15 seatbelt violations and 10 citations for driving under suspension. Other offenses included driving without insurance, expired tags, careless and reckless driving, texting while driving, and open container violations. “Our priority is always to keep the roads of Berkeley County safe,” Sheriff Duane Lewis said in a statement.
