The cancer facility is expected to open in summer 2027, followed by the hospital in summer 2028. At a Sept. 4 ceremony, MUSC leaders and local officials celebrated the start of construction on the MUSC Health Nexton Medical Center. On the same campus, work also began on a 30,000-square-foot outpatient cancer facility affiliated with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, the National Cancer Institute-designated center on the Charleston peninsula. MUSC says the site will work closely with Hollings Cancer Center and the recently announced MUSC Health cancer hospital planned for downtown Charleston. The cancer facility is expected to open in summer 2027, followed by the hospital in summer 2028.
