The pieces sold were varied. The auction included wardrobe pieces like Jim Carter as Carson's "three-piece morning suit" and Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary's blue silk dress. An elaborate brass dinner gong used in the final film sold for £28,160 ($38,485) against a three-figure estimate. All proceeds from the auction went to Together for Short Lives, a charity for children with life-limiting conditions in the UK. Alongside the auction at Bonhams was also a free exhibition of Downton Abbey history and ephemera.
