In a strong hint he backs abolition, Douglas Alexander said he hoped the “right decision” will be made within weeks.
He also promised to be a “loud voice” in Cabinet for strong measures combating child poverty.
The two child cap, introduced by the Tory Government in 2017, limits some means-tested benefits to the first two children.
