His new children’s book, Island Storm, is about two kids who feel a storm coming, pull on their boots and head to the sea. So he called in reinforcements in the form of illustrator Sydney Smith. Island Storm is a book about risk and risk-taking, says author Brian Floca. “I think about childhood a lot in the sense that it’s a lot of discovering the line by crossing it,” adds illustrator Sydney Smith.
