A 61-year-old man was killed on the National Mall in Washington, DC, last week while delivery crews were unloading a racecar painted by Andy Warhol. The victim has been identified as Joseph Keegan of Parsippany, New Jersey, police told Hyperallergic. The incident occurred while workers were delivering a 1979 BMW M1 painted by Warhol for the Cars at the Capital exhibition, an annual showcase of cars from the National Historic Vehicle Register. It was slated to be exhibited in a lit glass case at the pop-up at the yearly exhibition organized by the Hagerty Drivers Foundation (previously known as the Historic Vehicle Association) on the National Mall. “Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the deceased’s family,” a Hagerty Drivers Foundation spokesperson told Hyperallergic in a statement.
