From Saturday 8 November 2025, individuals in Thailand can face fines of up to 10,000 baht if they drink alcohol in licensed venues outside permitted hours. While previous rules only banned the sale of alcohol outside set hours, the revision now also penalises private consumers who continue drinking in restricted times. The measure is presented as part of Thailand’s effort to promote responsible tourism and a safer nightlife environment. The new fines are expected to affect bars, clubs and lounges in nightlife hubs such as Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, where late-night alcohol sales are a major draw for international tourists. Tourism operators are encouraged to provide information through brochures, hotel guides and digital platforms to help travellers avoid unintentional violations.
