A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot Wednesday afternoon in Benton Harbor, authorities said. According the the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, officers from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to the 1000 block of Buss Avenue for a report of shots fired. A subsequent search warrant at an apartment in the 975 block of Buss Avenue led to the recovery of a firearm. Following the teen’s death, the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office upgraded the charges against the 20-year-old to open murder and assault with intent to murder. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the shooting and have not released additional details about the motive or circumstances.
