The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned Ghanaians against a surge in AI-generated deepfake videos being used to promote fraudulent investments and unapproved drugs. The fabricated clips, widely shared on platforms such as Facebook, attempt to trick viewers into believing these figures endorse fake financial schemes or unsafe medical products. According to the Authority, cybercriminals use Artificial Intelligence tools to create highly convincing videos and voiceovers. These schemes, CSA warned, ultimately result in financial loss, identity theft, or exposure to harmful substances.
