Union County OfficialsUnion county officials just got the final approval needed to build an ice rink in Roselle. On Monday, the State House Commission approved the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) request to reclassify a 1.14 acre portion of Warinanco Park, solidifying the plans to build a 49,000-square-foot indoor ice rink. The $28 million project will be built next to an outdoor ice rink and require cutting down several long-standing trees in a wooded area known as Justin’s Grove. Around the grove, 60 trees will remain standing and 50 new trees will be planted, as well as 150 new trees that will be planted around Warinanco Park.
