A Morris County man was sentenced to 15 years in prison and must register as a sex offender after his release, following his conviction for trying to meet children for sex, according to officials with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Brian Stewart, 43, was convicted in May of three counts of second-degree luring, second-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, four counts of attempted aggravated sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities began investigating on March 22, 2024 after receiving a tip about child exploitation on the internet, officials said.
The investigation found Stewart had engaged in sexual conversations with people he believed were children online and attempted to meet them in public locations to have sex, officials said.
An attorney for Steward did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
