Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Threads WhatsApp TelegramKUCHING (Sept 30): Malaysia should field home-grown football players instead of relying on naturalised foreign players, said Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Commenting on the alleged forgery of documents in the registration of seven heritage players by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), the Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development called for a review of the current system to prevent a recurrence.
“As I had indicated a long time ago, I would prefer to see homegrown players representing Malaysia.
“But then, because of the atmosphere, they (FAM) allow for foreign players to be naturalised.
FAM has said it would appeal FIFA’s decision, adding it had identified a “technical error” in the submission process of documents for the heritage players by its administrative staff.
