A Solano County Superior Court judge on Monday rescheduled a report and sentencing and a motion for a new trial for a 50-year-old Vallejo man convicted last year of a 2018 fatal shooting in Vallejo. Deputy District Attorney Bill Ainsworth, who led the prosecution of the seven-year-old case, file his opposition to the new trial motion on Thursday. A previously convicted felon, Blackwell was found guilty on Sept. 18, 2024, of second-degree murder for the killing of Daryl Huckaby, 47, in Vallejo. As previously reported, during his trial, Blackwell was acquitted of first-degree murder, and the jury found to be untrue that he fired a gun and discharged the firearm. He received 52 years to life for attempted murder of Teiquon Cortez, 29 at the time, on Nov. 5, 2018, in Vallejo.
