One person was killed and three others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Pala early Sunday morning, according to California Highway Patrol officers. The crash occurred when a 21-year-old Pala man driving a Dodge Durango SUV allegedly lost control and the vehicle spun into an opposing lane of traffic on eastbound state Route 76 near Magee Road around 1:45 a.m., CHP investigators said. A passenger in the Honda died at the scene, CHP officers said. The Honda’s driver, as well as the Dodge’s driver and his 25-year-old passenger, were transported to a hospital with serious injuries, investigators said. The driver of the Dodge, Antonio Albert Gonzalez III, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and other charges, Gerber said.
