Brentwood High Street has been open for business, but will be closed to traffic from September 15 for six weeks while essential gas works from Cadent take place. Essex Highways will also use the opportunity to resurface areas of the High Street, replacing the granite setts between Crown Street and St. Thomas Road. Both Brentwood BID and the high street's shops are calling for locals to keep shopping at the high street despite the main road being closed.
