Late last week, Chevy Chase lawyer Shelly Skolnick announced his candidacy for county executive. A Republican, Skolnick is no stranger to local politics. This declaration marks his second run for county executive. Skolnick campaigned for the Congressional seat in the 8th District now held by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D) four times. In the past he has also sought a spot on the County Council.
