ADVANCE — James John Sims, 78, of Advance passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born Aug. 27, 1946, to Nathan and Dortha Sims. Jimmy was in the Advance High School Class of 1964, where he was later inducted into their Hall of Fame. For 38 years, Jimmy worked within the Chicago Pipefitters Local No. Many affectionately called him "Uncle Jimmy" because he was so involved with his community.
