A long-serving former journalist who later went into teaching has been named as the NCTJ’s new chief examiner for shorthand.
Sandra, pictured, has been a member of the NCTJ’s shorthand board since 2019 and has now taken over as its chair.
She succeeds Bournemouth University journalism lecturer Karen Ballam who will contunue as a board member and senior examiner.
Sandra began her career at the Herald Express in Devon before working on Wales Online, the South Wales Echo, Western Mail, Wales on Sunday and the Celtic weeklies.
“We’re pleased that she will remain on the board as a senior examiner, offering her expertise and supporting Sandra as she settles into the role.”
