A bid to end Reform UK’s controversial ban on speaking to a regional daily has failed after councillors “talked out” the move.
It is now nearly four weeks since Reform UK-run Nottinghamshire County Council severed contact with the Nottingham Post after objecting to a piece about local government reform.
A motion had been proposed by two Broxtowe councillors at Thursday’s full council meeting calling on the authority to support a free press.
However when this was put to a vote, the majority Reform UK group threw it out.
The article included a claim that two Reform UK councillors had publicy said they could be suspended from their county council group if they did not support Cllr Barton’s preference of a bigger Nottingham council covering Broxtowe and Gedling.
