A local democracy reporter covering an asylum protest was threatened by an event organiser waving a bag of used toilet paper at him. Oliver Leader, an LDR employed by KMTV who also provides content for KentOnline, Kent Live and the BBC, was abused while covering the protest in Canterbury on Saturday. While filming protesters outside a Kent County Council building housing unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, he was taunted by event organiser Harry Hilden. “When I approached Harry he waved what appeared to be used toilet paper in my face rather than answer any questions. “We do, however, accept his assurance that he liked the footage without having watched it.”
