WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two people who died in a crash near Wausau Friday night. The Marathon County Dispatch Center received a 911 call around 10 p.m. Friday for a report of a head-on crash near the intersection of Hwy 52 and Forest Lawn Road in the town of Wausau. According to the sheriff’s office, 81-year-old Shirley Erickson and 82-year-old Arlan Erickson died in the crash. Hwy 52 was closed for about six hours while investigators processed the scene and cleared the roadway. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wausau Police Department, Town of Wausau Fire and First Responders, City of Wausau Fire and EMS, Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Marathon County Highway Department.
