Two queens compete for the crownArticle by Kiley MartinezAs September rolls to a close, Luna County is preparing to see who will take this year’s crowns in the Southwestern New Mexico State Fair Pageant. Pageant co-coordinator Cynthia Galindo told the Headlight that there are an even dozen competing in this year’s pageant. The girls have already competed for the best commercial prize and gone through the first round of judging, but that’s not all they compete for. The pageant will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, and will feature the annual live cake auction. The amount raised in the auction directly contributes to the scholarship amount received by whomever is crowned Fair Queen.
