TROY, N.Y. — Under string and fluorescent lights in an old church basement, election season kicked off in earnest in Troy. All six district City Council seats face the polls on Nov. 4, and District 2’s choices met in the first, and so far only, candidate forum. “In this case, both candidates were interested,” League of Women Voters of Rensselaer County President Joan Rogers said. The forum is just about getting to hear from the candidates, Rogers said. “Before you vote, you deserve to see both sides…Whether there’s another one for this (race), I will be agreeing to do a forum.”“Voters get to hear what’s going on, and they get to hear what’s important to you and what you’ve heard so far.
