Bomb Found in Backpack at Sunset Beach on N. Oregon CoastPublished 09/17/25 at 4:45 p.m.By Oregon Coast Beach Connection Staff(Gearhart, Oregon) – Oregon State Police say they found a suspicious backpack in a public bathroom on the north Oregon coast, which turned out to be a bomb or explosive device of some sort. “Bomb technicians from the Oregon State Police and Salem Police Department responded to the scene and rendered the device safe. No injuries were associated with this incident.”Jolene Kelley, Deputy Public Information Officer, was able to confirm to Oregon Coast Beach Connection: “It was determined to be an explosive device and was safely destroyed by bomb technicians,” she said. Oregon State Police were assisted by the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, Salem Police Department, Oregon Parks Department, Warrenton Fire Department, and Astoria Fire Department.
