Records could only have been made, if at all, by a tiny minority of the almost entirely illiterate population who might have attended Jesus events. But the clergy, raised above and apart from the faithful throng, are un-self-critically confident of what they tell the people. Faith, as understood by Christians, is self-deception, learnt from the clergy who themselves believe in it uncritically. Real truth is the opposite, but since the clergy are considered to be reverend, the people simply believe and comply.
