The Whitecourt Family Violence Initiative (FVI), an award-winning local program to help prevent family and sexual violence, is facing a loss of provincial funding. The town is hoping to save the program and Whitecourt town council voted during its Sept. 22 regular meeting to pay to keep FVI going for the rest of 2025. The RCMP typically shares cases of domestic violence with Whitecourt FVI, and the group will work with both the victim and the accused.
